In this article, we introduce the embedded special interest group (embedded SIG), hosted by the Eclipse Foundation. The embedded SIG is an open collaboration of embedded vendors and service providers, with the goal of strengthening the open source ecosystem for building web- and cloud-based tools used for embedded development. The SIG provides the structure for participants to coordinate efforts, share insights and collaborate on technical initiatives and standards.

Diagram Editors for Web-based Tools with Eclipse GLSP

In this article, we introduce the Eclipse Graphical Language Server Platform (GLSP), a technology to efficiently build diagram editors for web- and cloud-based tools. These diagram editors can run inside an IDE, such as Eclipse Theia or VS Code; or can be used stand-alone in any web application. Eclipse GLSP fills an important gap in the implementation of graphical editors for web-based domain-specific tools.

Cloud IDE Day 2021 - A Great Success!

The first ever Cloud IDE Day was held on May 19th, 2021 as a virtual event. While we do have our ongoing Cloud Tool Time webinars and Cloud Chat Twitch.tv series, for the Eclipse Cloud DevTools Working Group, Cloud IDE Day was our first attempt at organizing a larger scale event. With over 200 registrants, nearly 150 live attendees and an impressive group of speakers that delivered some fantastic sessions, you can expect to see more of these kinds of events in the future. The Top 5 ECD Tools Sessions from EclipseCon 2020

Despite not yet having a dedicated track at EclipseCon 2020, the growing need for and adoption of Cloud Development Tools was prominent in the first virtual edition of the annual conference. With eleven Cloud Development Tool-related sessions that have earned nearly 4,000 views combined since the October event, clearly the Eclipse Cloud Development (ECD) Tools Working Group and community at large are key pieces of the Eclipse Foundation Ecosystem, and awareness around cloud tooling projects is quickly growing.
