Open VSX Working Group forms, SD Times recognition, contributor awards to Yining Wang and Red Hat, Cloud DevTools and Langium, releases of JKube and Theia.

The Eclipse Cloud Developer Tools contributor award for June goes to Red Hat for initially contributing the VS Code Extension API to Theia. This allows regular VS Code extensions to run directly in Theia and any Theia-based product.

Open VSX working group forming, March and April contributor awards to Rodrigo Pinto and the STMicroelectronics respectively, JKube 1.12 release, and 1.36 and 2023-02 community releases of Theia

The Eclipse Cloud Developer Tools contributor award for this month goes to Yining Wang for her contributions to github.com/eclipse/openvsx and github.com/EclipseFdn/open-vsx.org, its deployment at Open VSX Registry.

The Eclipse Cloud DevTools contributor award for this month goes to STMicroelectronics for initiating the Theia Community Release. The community release is a new, special type of release done every three months in addition to the monthly releases.

Eclipse Foundation is proposing a working group for the Open VSX Registry. A call for interested organizations is scheduled for Tuesday, April 4, at 11:00 AM EDT. The call will be recorded and posted to the, soon to be live, working group mailing list.

The Eclipse Cloud DevTools contributor award for this month goes to Rodrigo Pinto of Ericsson for his significant contributions in Trace Compass Cloud and the Eclipse Cloud DevTools Ecosystem.

We’re working on a new funding and governance model for https://open-vsx.org/ that will be more sustainable in the long term. The basic structure will be an Eclipse Foundation working group, with an option to sponsor only and not participate in the governance and management of the deployment.
