The Top 10 Sessions from EclipseCon 2020

After announcing in March 2020 that EclipseCon 2020 would be held as a virtual event for the first time, there was plenty of uncertainty and concern on how our community would react. While it is impossible to replace the camaraderie that came from the in-person event in Ludwigsburg, the response from every corner of the Eclipse community was truly incredible and made EclipseCon 2020 an unforgettable virtual experience for all involved. With over 2,500 registered attendees, 2020 marked the largest EclipseCon in history.

The Top 5 IoT Sessions from EclipseCon 2020

EclipseCon 2020, which was virtual for the first time, boasted eleven IoT and Edge related sessions with topics ranging from innovative operating systems to autonomous driving to how Edge Computing can learn from the moon landings and everything in between. Racking up nearly 4,000 views combined, the IoT track and its variety of topics have proven very intriguing to the Eclipse community.

The Top 5 ECD Tools Sessions from EclipseCon 2020

Despite not yet having a dedicated track at EclipseCon 2020, the growing need for and adoption of Cloud Development Tools was prominent in the first virtual edition of the annual conference. With eleven Cloud Development Tool-related sessions that have earned nearly 4,000 views combined since the October event, clearly the Eclipse Cloud Development (ECD) Tools Working Group and community at large are key pieces of the Eclipse Foundation Ecosystem, and awareness around cloud tooling projects is quickly growing.

Virtual IoT Meetups - Year in Review

Boasting an audience of over 2,500 IoT enthusiasts, the Virtual IoT Meetup Group brings together a world-wide network of developers dedicated to discovering and creating new technologies that will make it easier to create IoT applications. In 2020, the group gathered four times through Eclipse Foundation organized events to discuss projects making strides in the IoT space.

In 2021, we hope to bring even more Tech Talk webinars to our audience and shine a light on the innovation our open source contributors are driving on technologies like Jakarta EE 9, MicroProfile, Kubernetes and more.
