I am happy to announce that Thomas Froment has joined the Eclipse Foundation as the Program Manager for the Eclipse IDE Working Group. The IDE Working Group is dedicated to ensuring the continued evolution, adoption, and sustainability of the Eclipse IDE suite of products, related technologies, and ecosystem. With millions of users, tens of millions of downloads, and billions of dollars in shared investment, the Eclipse IDE is one of the world’s most popular desktop development environments.
As Program Manager, Thomas will work with the IDE Working Group’s Steering Committee and ecosystem stakeholders to provide governance, guidance, and funding for the communities that support the delivery and maintenance of the Eclipse IDE products. Thomas will also engage directly with the Eclipse IDE community to understand, coordinate, and facilitate the objectives and priorities of the working group.
A software engineer by training, Thomas has extensive experience in open source and engineering roles. With over a decade of experience in J2EE (now Jakarta EE) application server development, he most recently served as the co-founder and CTO of Komyu, a consulting firm specializing in cross-functional management and community development. Thomas previously held several key roles at Thales, including Head of DevOps & IT, Inner Source Transformation Lead, Agile Coach, and Engineering Lead for Cloud Computing Solutions.
Please join me in welcoming and congratulating Thomas on taking on this new role in the Eclipse IDE community!
