4 Must See Talks For IoT Developers at EclipseCon 2021

Thursday, September 2, 2021 - 00:00 by Hailley Seed

Are you interested in Industry 4.0, smart city, building automation, smart home, and other emerging use cases? EclipseCon, the leading conference for developers, architects, and open source business leaders, has a track for you!

The IoT & Edge track will cover how IoT development is expanding at a rapid pace, driving applications. This requires solutions not only on the cloud side, but also for edge computing, gateways, and constrained devices. These sessions are about using Eclipse IoT projects, new open source projects for IoT, experiences with building IoT solutions or delivering edge services for IoT.

Don’t miss these 4 talks at EclipseCon 2021:

Towards a Comprehensive Open Source IoT RISC-V Stack

Speakers: Frédéric Desbiens (Eclipse Foundation) and Alexander Fedorov (ArSysOp)

This presentation will be about the OpenHW Group, a not-for-profit global organization aiming to boost the adoption of open-source processors. It will explore its CORE-V Family of RISC-V based open source cores as well as the associated processor subsystem IP, tools and software. Learn more

Rock solid Device Connectivity

Speakers: Kai Hudalla (Robert Bosch GmbH)

This presentation will explore the pros and cons of the commonly used IoT protocols and what to keep in mind when picking one for the particular use case at hand. It will also help you better understand issues with device connectivity, what to look for and how to prevent these issues in the first place in order to improve the robustness of the overall solution. Learn more

Extending the IoT Cloud to the Edge

Speaker: Sven Erik Jeroschewski (Robert Bosch GmbH)

This presentation will introduce how Eclipse IoT Packages were taken for and to the edge to control and manage IoT edge devices. Among other things, one also needs a reliable software and operating system stack on the devices to provide a Kubernetes environment in the edge. This presentation will share findings and learnings on this topic and give an outlook on gaps that were identified in current setups. Learn more

Toto, I Have a Feeling We're Not in the Cloud Anymore: How Java Developers can Build IoT Solutions

Speaker: Frédéric Desbiens (Eclipse Foundation)

In this presentation, you will learn about the main protocols leveraged in such environments, such as CoAP, DDS, LwM2M, MQTT, OPC UA and zenoh. You will also discover client and server implementations of those protocols written in Java that live at the Eclipse Foundation such as Californium, Cyclone DDS, Leshan, Paho and Milo. Learn more.

Don’t miss out on EclipseCon 2021 (October 25 - 28), it is online and free to attend! Be sure to register so you don’t miss a full program of technical talks, community day and networking opportunities. For more information on this event check eclipsecon.org/2021 and @eclipsecon.
