Open Innovation in Healthcare

Tuesday, April 8, 2008 - 10:34 by Anonymous (not verified)

Open Health Tools is a new organization that is being started to create an common and open platform for healthcare products and services.  Some interesting things about this organizations:

– This is a great example of industry specific organizations collaborating in an open source community.   It features Canada Health Infoway, Inc., National e-Health Transition Authority (Australia), National Health Service, Connecting for Health (United Kingdom) and Veterans Health Administration (United States).  What a great example of industry collaboration.

– Open Health Tools is using Eclipse as the platform for their technology.  In fact, a lot of the Eclipse OHF project will be leveraged by this group.

– For those that watch Eclipse closely, you will noticed Skip McGaughey is the executive director of OHT.  Skip was one of the key people that started Eclipse.  He has a proven track record for building collaborative communities, so it will be exciting to watch the growth of Open Health Tools.

Good luck to everyone involved with Open Health Tools.   It will be fascinating to watch the progress.
