I really appreciate when companies publish the results of their developer surveys. In the open source world, these types of surveys provide an important insight into what developers are using.
This is why I was interested to see Zero Turnaround’s recent Java EE productivity Report. It is great to see Eclipse continues to do well with 65% respondents using Eclipse and if you include MyEclipse that bring the total Eclipse user base to 69%. I was surprised to see IntelliJ in second place at 22%, well ahead of NetBeans at 12%. I actually thought NetBeans was doing better but it might just reflect a survey bias.
Take a look at the rest of the report. Some interesting findings on Java containers and frameworks.
