The Eclipse Project Model

Tuesday, May 24, 2011 - 17:15 by Wayne Beaton

I have started capturing the “Eclipse Project Model” using EMF and Ecore Tools. EMF captures the actual model and Ecore Tools provides a cool visual.

I’ve only just started on it, so there’s obviously some holes. It’s worth noting that this represents a run at creating an idealized view, so some of it is not entirely accurate at this particular moment in time. I should probably spend a little time organizing the bits into packages (i.e. actually add some organization).

This diagram is born out of a discussion about replacing the Eclipse Developer Portal. I’d love to move proposals and review materials in particular into the developer portal, but the current portal just isn’t designed for that sort of thing. More on this later.

I plan to move the ecore for this model somewhere under /projects. I’ll do that after I’ve iterated over this a couple more times. It probably needs a few annotations here and there…
