I am happy to announce that effective July 6th, Brian King will join the Eclipse Foundation as Cloud Development Tools Community Manager, with worldwide responsibility to drive community growth around open source cloud development tools.
As Community Manager, Brian will join the Eclipse Cloud Development Tools Working Group to drive the evolution and broad adoption of emerging open source solutions for cloud-based development including Eclipse Che and Eclipse Theia. The initiatives included language support, extensions, marketplaces, and developer workspace definition. Founding members of the working group include Red Hat, IBM, Broadcom, Ericsson, Intel, SAP, Software AG, Wind River, EclipseSource, and Typefox among others.
Brian is based in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, and joins the Eclipse Foundation from his position as Europe Community Lead for Toptal. He scaled up the Toptal Academy to bring new skills to the network and built out a Leaders network in the region to amplify the company’s impact. Brian was previously a Community Engagement Lead with the Mozilla Corporation, where he built communities of thousands of volunteers that had a direct impact on maintaining a free and open web for all of us. He also engaged over 300 dedicated volunteers in the Open Web by co-building the Mozilla Reps program, who mobilized to develop functional and local/regional Mozilla communities. On the Mozilla Reps Council, Brian led strategic planning, organizational decision making, and new project execution. Brian was a pioneer in the community developing extensions for Firefox and Thunderbird.
Please join me in congratulating Brian on taking on this new role in the Eclipse Cloud Dev Tools community!
