WeAreDevelopers World Congress 2025

Friday, July 11, 2025 - 08:07 by Ivar Grimstad

WeAreDevelopers World Congress in Berlin is a massive event. It is located at the huge Messe Berlin with two exhibition halls, and 13 parallel tracks. Most of the stages are located near, or in the expo. Usually, I don’t like this much since there is so much noice, even with decent sound barriers and excellent audio quality.

The talk slots at WeAreDevelopers are 30 minutes. My talk titled The Evolution of Enterprise Java with Jakarta EE 11 and Beyond is usually better fitted for 45-60 minutes, but I was able to condense it down to the required 30 minutes. It turned out to be a very good, fast-paced performance, if I should say so myself. The feeling was very good afterwards. I had to cut one of the demos in order to make it on time, but that didn’t really hurt. Check out the slides here.

WeAreDevelopers is not the usual Java conference, but there were quite a few familiar faces anyway. I also had the pleasure of meeting two of my colleagues from Eclipse Foundation, Francisco Carneiro and Olga Timakova. And of course, there was time for a #runWithJakartaEE in Tiergarten on Friday morning.
