Hashtag Jakarta EE #358

Welcome to issue number three hundred and fifty-eight of Hashtag Jakarta EE!

I am currently in transit between Devoxx Morocco 2026 and Porto Tech Hub 2026. Last time I was at Porto Tech Hub was in 2024 where I had a talk. This year, I am staffing the Jakarta EE booth as we are sponsoring. It is a great conference, and I am looking forward to come back to it. It is also convenient that it is located in Porto, which is on the way home from Casablanca. If you are there, make sure to visit the Jakarta EE booth, talk to me, and check out what swag we are bringing this time.

Unfortunately, it looks like the Jakarta EE Platform project will not be able to release Jakarta EE 12 in December as planned. Right now they are looking at February 15, 2027 as the target release date. Due to travels, I have not been able to follow the discussions, but from what I can see in the minutes, it is now very near that Jakarta JSON Processing 2.2 can be released, followed by Jakarta JSON Binding 3.1. After that, it is more or less up to when Jakarta RESTful Web Services 5.0 can get their release out. If you are a committer on that project, please help out by reviewing the remaining pull requests in a timely manner so further delays can be avoided.

The CFP for Open Community Experience is open until December 6, 2026, but here is a tips. The early submission deadline is November 9, so if you submit before that, you have a much better chance of being selected. Simply because most speakers wait until the absolutely last moment.

If you don’t want to speak at the conference, you can still attend. Use the code OCX-IGRIMSTAD-20 for ad 20% discount on the full conference pass.
