Welcome to issue number two hundred and eighty-seven of Hashtag Jakarta EE!
This week I was at Dominican Republic where I spoke at JConf Domincana in Santo Domingo. You can read all about it in my blog post from the eventConf Dominicana.
Earlier in the week, before I traveled, we had the weekly Jakarta EE Platform call. We had some good progress in detailing the planned milestones for Jakarta EE 12 and defining the expectations for the first milestone. We also started discussing which specifications that would be candidates for inclusion in the Platform for Jakarta EE 12.
I also brought up on the agenda a discussion item for how we can position Jakarta EE 12 in relation to AI. It is too early to start working on new specifications in this area as it is still maturing and currently moving a little too fast for standardisation. For some weird reason there is a little resistance to discuss AI in the context of Jakarta EE. Specifying and standardising anything around it is a bit too early, as I mentioned above. That I get! But talking about how to leverage AI with Jakarta EE should be a topic of interest. I will continue to bring this up on the agenda until it sticks. My talk titled Jakarta EE Meets AI has been one of my most popular talks over the last year, so there is definitely interest.
