After three and a half incredible years as Adoptium Program Manager, I'm stepping into a new role within the Eclipse Foundation as an Open Source Community Manager in the Eclipse Management Organization (EMO) team, in April 2026.
Looking back, this journey has been far more than a role. It has been an opportunity to grow, to connect, and to truly understand what makes open source communities thrive.
When I joined the Eclipse Foundation in October 2022, I became part of a program that is deeply rooted in collaboration, trust, and shared purpose. Working alongside the Adoptium community, the Working Group, and the broader Java ecosystem gave me a unique perspective on the impact of a well-supported and engaged community.
Through program planning, community initiatives, and ongoing collaboration, I had the chance to work with incredibly dedicated people across the world. These experiences not only shaped my professional path but also helped me appreciate the human side of open source: the relationships, the generosity, and the shared commitment to building something meaningful together.
One of the most inspiring aspects of this journey has been the Java community itself. After 30 years, it remains welcoming, dynamic, and open to new contributors. Being part of this ecosystem showed me how important it is to create spaces where people feel encouraged to participate, contribute, and grow.
I would like to sincerely thank the Adoptium community: the Project Management Committee members, Working Group representatives, and all contributors, for your trust, support, and collaboration over the years. A special thank you as well to the Eclipse Foundation teams behind every initiative we delivered together.
As I move into this new role, I’m excited to bring everything I’ve learned about program management and community building to support projects across the wider Eclipse Foundation ecosystem. I’m especially looking forward to working alongside my new teammates and, for a fun fact, there will now be two Delgados working together at the Eclipse Foundation.
