On the fifth episode of the Entrepreneurial Open Source Podcast, we welcomed Angelo Corsaro, chief technology officer at ADLINK Technology. Angelo’s work for ADLINK — a global business that builds and deploys Edge AI solutions to connect people, places and things — has been focused on corporate technology strategy and innovation leveraging open source participation and leadership.
However, Angelo’s history with open source goes back much further. Angelo recalls looking at the Linux kernel as a teenager and working with his brother to build their own local network in the days of dial-up internet.
“The amount of tricks I learned by looking at the code of other people is uncountable. And I think that open source still serves that role, which is fantastic,” Angelo said.
As Angelo’s career progressed, he realized that open source can also facilitate industrial collaboration and accelerate innovation. While the benefits of an open approach were clear to ADLINK, Angelo says that open source participation is about much more than just helping your own business.
“If you want good things to happen for you, you have to start doing good things for others. And that's how we see open source. I think the responsibility of a good open source citizen is to contribute back,” says Angelo.
