Member Case Study: Obeo Accelerates Growth With a Strategic Membership

Friday, January 8, 2021 - 09:00 by Thabang Mashologu

Happy New Year! It's a new year and we have a new case study to inspire your entrepreneurial open source journey.

In 2009, just two years after Obeo joined the Eclipse Foundation, the company took a bold step and became a Strategic member with a representative on the Eclipse Foundation Board of Directors. The move expanded Obeo’s influence and visibility, and has helped the company grow internationally. We’re sharing Obeo’s story in our latest member case study.

Obeo specializes in open source solutions to create and transform complex industrial systems, IT applications, and corporate digital operations. Open source software has been key to Obeo’s product strategy since the company was created in 2005 in France. Today, Obeo employs dozens of people, partners with major industry players, and has a global customer base.

Obeo CEO, Cédric Brun, says the reputation the company built by participating in the Eclipse Foundation has been key to the company’s growth, particularly its growth outside of France.

“Our involvement in the Eclipse Foundation helped us to be recognized in our technical niche in just a few years,” Brun says.

In our member case study, Brun provides insight into why Obeo decided to upgrade to Strategic membership in the Eclipse Foundation, the advantages of being on the Board of Directors with global technology leaders, and the new opportunities and business relationships that have resulted.
