Reporter looking to speak to Eclipse users

John Waters at AD Trends is working on a story for App Trends about Java tools and would like to speak with some users of the Eclipse IDE. Specifically he’s looking for:

A developer who is currently using the Eclipse IDE as his/her basic Java development tool and adding plug-ins to customize its functionality
An IT manager whose developers are doing this, either with company’s blessing or without

Promoting Eclipse C/C++ to Linux and Embedded Developers

We would like to raise the awareness of Eclipse with Linux and Embedded Developers. Lots of people know of Eclipse as being a great platform for Java development tools. Eclipse also has a great C/C++ IDE which is being used by lots of companies as the foundation for their Linux and/or embedded developer tools.

As I mentioned in my previous post, Eclipse.org was hammered by a DDOS attack when we posted Eclipse 3.1. You may have noticed that the form of the attack has almost certainly inflated the number of download requests showing in the “Eclipse Download Challenge” counter.

OSTG, the folks that produce Sourceforge have launched the new Eclipse.Techforge.com. SourceForge has already been the home for hundreds of interesting Eclipse related open source projects, so it is great to see them start a specific channel for Eclipse.

Eclipse.org Running Better

I just info from Denis (Eclipse webmaster) that part of the reason the site was slow was that we were hit by a DDOS attack at the same time the 3.1 release went up. Denis has dealt with that and the site is running better now.

Well, Luis beat me to the punch, but Eclipse 3.1 is released and ready to go! We’ve doubled the bandwidth at http://www.eclipse.org, so hopefully the Million Download Challange will make me pay up big time to my favourite charity.
