    Wednesday, July 18, 2007 - 16:22 by Wayne Beaton
The PHP Development Tools ( PDT) Project has been hard at work producing the next version of some excellent tools for building PHP applications. I have been using the 1.0M1 release (the PDT downloads page points to their update site) for a few weeks now and am really impressed. Here’s...

    Interpreted Java

It’s long past time to continue on a path I started down some time ago. About four years ago, Renaud Waldura posted a blog entry titled “Ten Reasons to Use Eclipse”. A few months back, I started reviewing the ten reasons to see what’s changed. My previous entries are here...

    Confusion

    Sunday, July 15, 2007 - 22:23 by Wayne Beaton
Apparently, there is some confusion about the name of the “ Mylyn” project. Let me try and clear it up. This is “Our Lynn”, the Eclipse Foundation’s Marketing Events Manager. Not So Fast!

IANAL, not even on TV. I noticed an article in InformationWeek that asserts that the Eclipse Public License ( EPL) and GPLv3 are compatible. Although I think that it would be a good thing if it was easier for the two communities to share and re-use code, the article is...

One more reason to love Mylyn

Last week, LinuxWatch and eWeek published an article ‘ Linux developers considering move to Eclipse‘. The article summarizes a breakout session at the recent Linux Foundation Collaboration Summit. The result of the session was: [….], it was decided to start making Eclipse, the open-source development platform, the Visual Studio for...

Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of hosting in Ottawa Kazumi Ohgata and Motoki Mori from NEC Soft in Japan. NEC Soft’s VALWAY Technology Center is developing an interesting tool to make it easier to build RCP applications, called Jalcedo. During our meeting we discussed the market for RCP tools...

    Present (part 2)

    Monday, July 9, 2007 - 01:30 by Mike Milinkovich
This is a continuation of last Friday’s post, and is the third installment in my Past, Present and Future of Eclipse series. No conversation about the present world of Eclipse can omit a comment on the vibrancy of the ecosystem. As I mentioned earlier, I believe that the early (and...

    Present…(part 1)

As promised, here is my attempt to capture the state of the Eclipse community at present. It is an incredibly daunting task to try to do this in a single blog post. But here goes… The obvious place to start is the recent release of Eclipse Europa. I just checked...
